When the First Baby Laughed for the First Time...

"...the laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies. And now when every new baby is born its first laugh becomes a fairy. So there ought to be." -James M. Barrie (Peter Pan)

Well, I do believe in faeries.
Even though I don't see them.

And even though I don't see this baby yet, I believe in it too.

These were my lingering thoughts for weeks.
After all, something was making me sick.
Then for the first time, I got my bump.

Goodbye, I said, to pants with waist bands.
Goodbye to sleeping on my stomach.

And...
Hello to a little one showing itself to the world.

I think I got a wave back.
And a little smile.

Here it is already a month later, I'm at 18 weeks, and the bump is growing steadily. It will be another 4-5 weeks before my next sonogram, and that leaves plenty of time to decide whether or not to let the babies sex remain a mystery.

My belly is not the only thing that's changing. The spring is settling in, and I'm aching for warmer weather, more sunshine, and lots of summer fun. Before summer rolls in though, I'll be leaving Pittsburgh and heading east: first back to Danville for a few months and them most likely on to New York. Pittsburgh has treated me well these past seven years, and blessed my journey with many wonderful acquaintances, friends, and family made along the way. I love this city and I'll be sad to leave, but happy to have had such a great time while I was here.

Although I'll still be babysitting for a little while, as of the third week in April I will be done teaching Gymboree classes. The smiles and shrieks, new words and gestures, trusts earned, and games played were part of my weekly routine for the last year-and-a-half. I met many fun and amiable families and will miss those special moments had with them. Thank You All for your Love and Support! And feel free to stay in touch.
